I’m beginning a stockpile of food and water. I will be listing what I have on hand and as I buy, with expiration dates, etc. Maybe this will help me keep track a little better. Need to find more storage……will be canning garden produce this year! Yeeha!

So, here’s my beginning list of what constitutes the stockpile so far – not much – by expiration date – easier to keep track of maybe this way.
1 bag dried chickpeas * 7-09
1 box cornmeal * 7-09
1 jar natural peanut butter * 9-09
1 bag dried blackeye peas * 9-09
2 cans evaporated milk * 12-09
4 cases (12 jugs) water * 01-10 (water expires?)
2 boxes corn muffin mix * 3-10
1 box raisins * 4-10
1 can pineapple * 5-10
1 box teabags * 6-10
1 bottle olive oil * 9-10
3 bag dried pinto beans * 11-10
2 boxes sea salt * 11 & 12-10
2 cans soup * 11 & 12-10
2 1-lb. bags brown rice * 11-10
2 quarts white vinegar * 3-11
1 can fruit cocktail * 3-11
3 cans chicken * 12-11
1 can corned beef hash * 12-11
2 cans tuna * 9-12
1 can black pepper * 11-12
1 can ham * 6-20! (buy more of this!)
No expiration date:
6 boxes (24) incandescent light bulbs (I know CFLs are supposed to be “greener”, but it really chaps me that the government is now telling me what kind of light bulbs I can use. Anyway, they contain mercury and you can’t just throw them away – so I’m stocking up on the old kind)
1 8-pack of bath soap
1 bottle liquid dish soap
Looks like I need to choose things that won’t expire in the next few months – like peanut butter and cornmeal, but since PB is one of my favorite foods, I’ll just keep rotating it.
